Origin
The Screen-Vu was designed and built by Peter Steinkamp in 1995 to view digital stereo fundus photographs and stereo retinal angiography at the Casey Eye Institute in Portland Oregon. Klein, Michael L. MD; Steinkamp, Peter N. MS (1997). Stereoscopic digital fluorescein and indocyanine green videoangiography. Retina, The Journal of Retinal and Vitreous Diseases, (17)4, 359-360. Peter manufactured a number of the instruments by hand before using that profit to commercialize the product.
He designed the injection tool with Tom Foe, owner of Center Line Tool - Vancouver WA, in 1996. Tom Foe manually machined the injection molding tool. The Screen-Vu continues to be used in ophthalmic medicine and research. As of today it has been utilized in more than 80 published scientific studies conducted by researchers across the globe.
